She was selected as Legend of the Year for 2018, where she was chosen among all women on and off-air in the radio industry. Rita was named WABC’s Political Editor and Host of “Election Central with Rita Cosby,” consistently obtaining headline-making interviews with top political figures. They are shared with all Cumulus/Westwood One station across the nation. She had interviews on New York Primary Day 2016 with all five Presidential candidates, all Republicans and Democrats still in the race, in an award-winning one-hour special. Rita served as a lead reporter during the 19 presidential campaigns. She was granted a rare meeting with Pope John Paul the second, to discuss penalty issues after receiving an exclusive letter from Timothy Mcveigh. It resulted in a civil lawsuit against Cosby and her publisher.
